21st century Optonic......the best predator alarm out there?
OK, I'm old enough to have bought and used Efgeeco Optonic bite alarms, 1988. It's taken over 30 years for someone to release a new version.
Like the original Optonic, the R2L 'reacts to light', hence the name R2L. No magnetic rollers! None. I have had takes not register with mag rollers, like skip...and before you say Delks' I can't use them on rivers, I tried.
This is the 2nd set, bought (cheaply) as I think Prologic have discontinued them. My original set is still going 2 years on and a lot of wet nights involved there.
Pretty much the ultimate predator alarm, here's why. No resistance, no bobbin weights and slack lining possible. very good adjustment for sensitivity, tone and volume, although I usually fish the receiver and the heads silent.
Totally came through days of heavy rain, but there is a caveat - unpack, unload the battery and let them dry out completely as soon as possible, many alarms are killed by not doing this after a welly session.
Peace to all Angling bredren, tight lines, wet nets

Solar strap!
Bought some solar rod sleeves then realised they didn’t have clips, found solar added a Velcro banded carry strap so things are all good out here🤙

A great timepiece!
Not easy to find in the UK Certina (Greek for reliance) watches. I needed a decent daily wear Automatic and looked at various Seiko then found an online recommendation to look into Certina being in the same price range. Glad I did!
The DS Podium is a good looking watch with a case width of 38mm so it suits a wide range of wrist width. 10mm depth so it’s not sitting high either for an auto. There is a stainless band option, and the faux croc strap that came with it is best replaced with something of higher quality - the bucket is a standard fit so it can be adapted to most bands with 19mm width. I managed to squeeze a 20mm hybrid silicone/leather band on without issue. I don’t know of another Swiss automatic that offers the value for money this watch represents, a nice weight, good Lume pretty classic layout dial and crystal case back. The ‘DS’ stands for double security, seals are doubled up so a dip in the pool or aqua adventure isn’t a problem. A great watch at a great price, not as well known as it’s Swatch group stablemates such as OMEGA, but no less a timepiece.
