I sent my electric stove to the recycling center (read 'dump')
1 of 1 found this helpful My huge, inefficient, impossible to sanitize electric stove is sacrificing its valuable copper for the greater good. After trying a Max Burton Induction Cooktop for a month, I ordered a second one. Then I converted my 220VAC 50 Amp electric stove plug to four 110VAC 20 Amp outlets, enabling me to operate both Max Burtons and two other of my various cooking appliances at the same time without overloading any circuits. The induction cookers are superb. Using Farberware stainless pots and pans, I can get dinner on the table in half the time the old stove allowed, and the cleanup required is negligible. Spills clean off the induction cooktops with a wipe from a damp paper napkin, and the pans never develop hot spots that burn food to the pan bottoms. Clean pans are just a rinse away. Rice dishes are back on the menu thanks to the control I now have of cooking temperatures and times.
My recommendation to anyone outfitting a dorm room: get one of these Induction cooktops. Your midnight snacks will come out perfect and you won't burn the frat house down.

Perfect for my particular purpose
I don't get any broadcast TV signals at all, and almost no FM - terrible location for reception. I use this card to copy old VHS tapes to a hard drive prior to transferring them to DVD. The card does a flawless job of that. Physical installation took two minutes in a Lenovo desktop. I did have to spend ten dollars or so to buy a software CD from Hauppage, but it was well worth it. The program is well designed, and if I ever move someplace that actually gets TV signals, I'll already have a digital TV set with a full roster of recording options built into my computer.
