Can't update firmware without original remote
3 of 3 found this helpful The unit had a remote but not original and HDMI won't work without this update, so you can move to the next chapter but you can't change the disk without getting up out of your chair we had to use the RGB to a receiver to watch our old DVDs with up convert so I recommend purchasing one if they have working original remote only. I wish Sony would make new changers for all us collectors so we would have purchase used equip
