Amazing game until the crushing disappointment comes...
The reviews of this game were so uniformly positive, I could no longer go without experiencing this wonderful game. The narrative is so expertly crafted to completely immerse you in your character and make the moral decisions that are so important to the gameplay that I became immediately addicted. I can't remember the last time I would stay up until dawn playing a video game, but I did just that with Fallout 3. I was willing to overlook some of the awkward dialog and obvious "sandbox walls" that one occasionally comes up against. I was also willing to suspend my disbelief and ignore the completely non-interactive universe (e.g. you detonate a mini-nuke in a living room and the furniture isn't even singed.) But, then there comes a point in the main plot (and I don't want to give anything away but I will say that it involves your character's dad) which cannot be changed, cannot be avoided, makes no sense, and frankly ruined the game for me. I now have no desire to continue playing to see the game through to the end. Never before have I had a game play with my emotions in such a careless and unsatisfying way! As satisfying as the first part of the game was, I am left with a wholly disappointing experience and the feeling that I wasted far too much time playing a game that - in the end - isn't worth it.

Historic design on a great big fireback
Big slab of cast iron, nice design that really looks nice with a fire going in front of it. What else?
