Saves a keyboard and monitor

By themselves these are useless, but combined with the appropriate Avovent DSR switch these are great units for kvm.

Best buy for your buck for remote KVM.

I'm a Unix Systems Engineer for a living and one thing I require is the ability to get console on every system I support. Recently I got started with Raspberry Pi and wanted a different solution than to have to plug in a keyboard and HDMI monitor every time I need to start one up. I've used Avocent IP-KVM at work for many years and I find them useful and reliable so when I saw these I picked one up thinking they'd be just the ticket for what I'm looking for and I'm sure glad I did. It does exactly what I want it to do. There are some caveats you should know: 1) To do basic setup you'll need a serial console cable (X096H U137H/540-604-501), they're available on eBay. 2) This is no longer supported by the vendor, but you can download the most recent version of the firmware (3/2016). 3) You'll need to use an old version of Java to make this work, I use Java 6. 4) For low power devices such as the Raspberry Pi, you'll need DSRIQ-USB dongles..

My master cylinder on my bike failed. I bought this one to rebuild so that replacement would be quick and easy. It's been rebuilt and is on the bike and working beautifully.
