For the money this is one of the best you can buy before moving into DSLR territory. I'm a long time Canon user and fan so I expected it to be a good choice.
PROS: Tons of features, manual and programmable. Nice zoom range. Sturdy body and nice mimic of SLR controls. The flip out, "agleable" viewfinder is absolutely awesome! And the fact that you can shoot 640x480 30fps video is a nice plus. I have an 8GB card and can take about a ton of pictures and still record 60 minutes of video.
CONS: This is a small camera. Despite its SLR look it is about 30 smaller. While this is good, if you've got long fingers like myself, holding the camera can feel a bit clumsly at times (you know, the way we all feel trying to push the tiny little buttons on cell phones today). Eats through batteries when using the swing out viewfinder...definitely buy rechargables. No easy way to attach filters to the lens. Not a big deal for most but for some of us it would be a nice feature.
These are niggling points though. This is a great little camera and an excellent compromise between a point-and-shoot and DSLR.
