A valuable asset
The only drawback is that is not entirely self centering in that one needs to do some alignment. For me that is no issue since I generally am putting dowels in odd places.
Registration marks are clear and precise by woodworking standards... machinists would likely want something more so but this is excellent for precision woodworking.
The #59 has solved a number of tricky boring needs with greater efficiency than my drill presses and horizontal borer. Those machines definitely have their place but this device is invaluable for a variety of situations where setting up a larger machine is more trouble than it's worth.
Plus it's easier to fit on the toolbox...I might even pick up a second one to keep in the traveling workbox.

Overpriced
First, this is plastic, not aluminum which is what I thought it was (adverts don't indicate construction material). Also, the Lyra graphite sticks are very tight - they don't move freely when the clutch is released, you have to manually pull the stick. And that's not particularly easy unless you can get a good grip. This is not the level of German engineering that I've come to expect. There are other types of holders which are half to a quarter as expensive and can be picked up in a hardware store (they're called lumber crayon holders). For $16+ I was expecting more. Depending on how much postage costs, this is probably going back.
