The sensor worked on a 5v supply
I'm using this sensor for my 3d printer and I did not want to run it on the 12v line. I wired it to 5v and the LED does not shine as bright, but the sensor still functions. Note, the repeatability is not guaranteed, but it helps if you slow down the bed leveling to combat this.
