Timeline is a blast from the past!
Pros: *old school packaging (U.S. version)*old school gameplay*U.S. packaging contains a paperback novel of the same name*nice 3d graphics for its time*catchy storyline and gameplay (stealth&tournaments)*immersive, well crafted medieval environments
Cons: *few flaws in gameplay*not for impatient action-loving gamers
Go get it before it solds out and became insanely expensive! It IS definitely worth of your money!

Americanized vision of Aegean world...
...but showing how the world of mighty Argonauts really looked e.g. Mycenaen outwardly blocky and bald buildings, leather shields and helmets made of boar´s teeth would not be definitely a good strategy for selling many copies to the masses who simply don´t care about accuracy and want play as blonde her riding winged white pony.
RotA looks like Disney´s Hercules for mature audience. Shiny armours on muscular heroes, shiny gods, holywoodish bosses and hack´n´slash. It´s a myth after all and greek myths were altered depending on contemporary taste troughout the history. In this game, the plot is notably modified, giving emphasis on Black Tongue brotherhood of assassins as main antagonists of Jason and his co-heroes.
So is this a typical popcorn? Not exactly, art style of this game despite it is a sythesis of all clichés about antic world was kind of neat and temperate. Unreal Engine looks to fit in this game, it works great for people, buildings and rocks, not so much for vegetation.
Main thing I appreciated was a little less slashing and much more TALKING. Yes this game is full of talk both small talk and the epic talk. There is too much talking, that combat is outmached in this game.. More refreshing after gossip with everyone and everything it is. Combat includes fancy finishes and weapon selection it´s bloody like Dragon Age.
RotA is not rpg like Mass Effect 2 game in any way, there are only rpg features, like ability tree for Jason and ambiguity of responses in interactions. Each of answers provided means some god´s favour. Actual effect on gameplay is slim though..
Every game has some cons including this one. Please, fans of slashing move along, it´s too little of it here for you. Devotees of free roaming words go back to Oblivion I think used UE III speaks for itself.
There are only extensive dialogues, appaling music and the atractive world of argonauts. This constellation of features is good for a solid game, but it sounds like great sales killer, because it´s not for everyone.
As a PC gamer this game lacked depth for me. It was all so xbox for me. Yeah checkpoints are there and Controlls are non-redefinable in PC version. You can only choose from three premade sets. The manual of game is also entirely written for gamers playing with windows xbox controller plugged in, so colourful smarties instead of keyboard buttons are troughout its whole text. I played first unpatched version and the game was crashing regularly to desktop every hour of playing . It was clean crash at least, with option to start the game againg and continue Jason´s journey...
Overall it was an enjoyable experience, but not great.
