Blocked by bios in HP DV7

Even though this card is a genuine HP card, and on the "blessed" list of supported cards on my DV7 hp laptop, it was blocked by the bios during boot. I have tried to replace the aweful 1x1 NIC that came with the laptop (limited to 72Mbit) with several models of cards to no avail. I have given up and am using a tiny USB 802.11n adapter that is working great.
