Great for the price
2 of 2 found this helpful It is a laminate (plywood) instrument. It sounds great after it's set up properly. It's important to sand the the footprint of the bridge so it mates with to the top of the instrument. After doing this it has good sustain and pretty decent timbre.
However - it because it is a laminate instrument, you run the risk of the layers of laminate on the top coming unglued. This happened to me while adjusting the bridge for intonation. When this happened, it also revealed that the gloss black top is some kind of plastic layer, not paint. I've heard that the burst finish has a better sound. My guess it's because the entire top is wood laminate and the plastic dampens the sound.
I'm ordering another one, but I'm getting the burst paint job, not the black.
