Inspiration story of the American Dream
I bought this book because I wanted a first edition version of the story I researched after I found and purchased a vehicle manufactured for Domino’s Pizza in 1985. This vehicle is referenced on page 279. Domino’s originally ordered 20 Tritan A2 “Aerocars” from Tritan Enterprises of Ann Arbor, owned by
Doug Amick. Unfortunately, due to production and insurance issues the project was halted after 10 “Aerocars” were built. Having found this vehicle and knowing absolutely nothing about it other than the fact it had a Domino’s Pizza box on the nose and lettering “Fast, Friendly. Free Delivery” . I began the task of searching for history and identification of the components installed to assist me in the task of restoring and driving the vehicle. I was able to locate 7 existing Tritans, 2 each owned by me and 2 owned by a new friend I met as a result of research, the remaing 3 Tritans are in Car museums in Tupelo Mississippi, Murdo South Dakota and Nasu, Japan.
Pictures of this vehicle can be found by “Googling” Domino Tritan Aerocar, You will see a picture of Tritan 007 with my brother Gene, Tritan 001 at the “Pioneer Auto Museum, Tritan 005 owned by my friend Ron and the Original “Prototype” Aerocar 135 with Doug Amick.
I look forward to meeting Mr. Monaghan, hopefully the winter of 2011, as I have spoken to is secretary who has invited me to visit him in Southern Florida. Fascinating man. A man truly driven to success through hard work, dedication and a highly principaled work ethic.
