About

I am a certified train freak and have been of this persuasion since 1941. I collect and repair items for operation on my O/S guage '30s-to-'50s pike. My growing HO is in the process of becoming an addition to the existing Season Central RR.

Lionel Postwar 2420 Work Caboose Coil Coupler Trucks
Apr 18, 2017
trucks at-last.
My 2420 work-caboose had sat, wheel less, for way too long. Suddenly, as I randomly sifted through some e-bay offerings, there appeared a pair of trucks with the unique bolster plates that looked like just what was needed! Through the usual transaction routine, I soon became the prowed owner of a fine set of the proper set of wheels with-which to place my classic 2420 back into operation. The truck assemblies with the attached mounting plates were a perfect fit, as well as a problem-solving answer to getting the 2420 back on the rails and into operation.
Lionel 219-4K Crane Car Hook & Ball Kit

One Serious Hook
This 219-4K Hook& Ball Kit is just the right replacement for the missing hook assembly on the pre-war O and standard gauge crane cars, produced by LIONEL, American Flyer, as well as other manufacturers of that era, that are hard to come by. It's size, weight and heavy-duty appearance really add to the business-like appearance of just about any crane car, as well as the stationary accessories such as the magnet and industrial cranes. Even the light-weight MARX cranes take on a whole new appearance with this well designed component at the lifting end of things.
Lionel Train Prewar 3859 Operating O Gauge Dump Car
May 30, 2017
LIONEL dumpers
The 3859 operating O gauge dump car is a slightly longer version of the 3659 dumper, introduced in LIONEL's line of 1938 remote controlled operating rolling stock. The 3859 remained in production through the end of pre-war production. The shorter version continued in postwar production through 1948 but with the new knuckle couplers. Except for a few changes to trucks and couplers, the 3859 stayed pretty much the same until the ending of pre-war production. These were great eye-catchers and their trouble-free operation was the result of a fairly simple system of durability and good engineering as well as quality production. I like these long dumpers and have quite a string of them in full operating order. Twelve of them can challenge the average lay-put and can sure put the average locomotive to the test. This particular 3859 was received in near perfect condition; just a bit of light-duty cleaning and a few dabs of lubrication and this classic worked like a charm.
