Fantastic film
Wonderful, though sad, film about a civil servant who realizes (almost) too late that he’s done next to nothing with his life and discovers he has cancer. With six months to live, he tries to figure out how to make the biggest impact before time runs out. Very moving and poignant story!!

Kurt Russell at his Best!! One of my favorite movies!!
If you like Kurt Russell (and really, who doesn't!!), his performance alone is worth five stars. This is a great "B" movie and it's only a B movie because of the subject matter. I saw this at the movies when I was 13 and it thrilled me then. I've subsequently had it on VHS, DVD, now I have it on BluRay and if they release it in 4K, I'll buy that too!
What's not to love, a great cast of characters brought to life by an outstanding cast including two Warriors (Who are the Warriors? I want ALL the Warriors! Alive if possible, if not... wasted!!), Wilford Brimley, and again, the inimitable Kurt Russell.
Yes, it's a little gory and it took some heat for it back when it was originally released but by today's standards it wouldn't have that label attached to it. It does still give me a quiver up my spine when they are drawing blood to see who is or isn't a Thing.
Keith David, a tremendous actor and IMHO doesn't get near enough credit for his range as an actor, is also awesome as Childs! Richard Masur, Charles Hallahan (the wrestling coach from Vision Quest), Richard Dysart, David Clennon, Peter Maloney, Donald Moffat, and Joel Polis all contribute to make this movie a gem. I'm leaving out the two Warriors in hopes that anyone reading this review will look them up and then follow up by watching The Warriors again or for the first time but they are also outstanding in both films!
I recommend The Thing most highly and without reservation to anyone interested in fun popcorn movies and sci-fi in particular!! I give The Thing 7 stars out of 5!! Enjoy 😊

Grateful Dead masterful covering Dylan songs
2 of 2 found this helpful The Grateful Dead bring their own unique style to some of BOb Dylans greatest compositions. The play list is exceptional and the sound is fantastic. If you are a fan of either Bob Dylan or the Grateful Dead you will enjoy this but if you are a fan of both Bob Dylan AND the Grateful Dead you will LOVE this. Much better than the recordign of Dylan and the Dead playing together. Five star rating for one of the best discs that I own!
