My favorite Mose Allison album
Mose Allison is a totally unique jazz composer & musician. His songs are blues-tinged jazz, permeated by quirkiness and humor. His voice is not polished or trained, but it fits his music perfectly. His piano playing can only be described as organized chaos, but not in an objectionable or irritating way. It is always intricate, clever and fascinating. He is often ingenious in his playing and his lyrics. This is my favorite his many albums. The sound quality is excellent -- warm, natural, clean & clear. The songs are interesting. My favorite song on the album is the last song -- "Your Molecular Structure". You have to hear it to appreciate its uniqueness, quirkiness and humor.

Enjoyable Movie in Beautiful Technicolor
My wife and I enjoyed this movie on the DVD-R issued by Hollywood Scrap Heap. It was a very pleasant surprise. The movie was filmed in 1953. and is in full screen. It is an adventuresome story set in Georgia shortly after the 13 colonies gained their independence from Great Britain. Sangaree is not the name of a person, but the name of the plantation that is central to the story. Arlene Dahl's stunning beauty and Fernando Lamas' rugged good looks and magnetism, and the chemistry between the two of them, make this a sexy and fun movie. The acting is good, the costumes look colorful , the styles look authentic, the sets are sumptuous and well designed, and the cinematography is very good. The picture quality is quite clear and sharp, and the Technicolor is beautiful. The overall sound quality is good in terms of naturalness and lack of distortion, but the sound track goes slightly out of sync in a few scenes. In those scenes the problem is not bad enough to make the movie look ridiculous, but is definitely noticeable and a bit annoying when the lip movements slightly lag the dialog, or vice versa. However, the sound is in sync through the majority of the movie, so I didn't find the problem to be a major, but I did subtract one star from my rating for the flaw. Otherwise, I would have given the disc a full 5 stars. It is a professional looking product.

My New Favorite Audie Murphy Western!
3 of 3 found this helpful I love Audie Murphy westerns, but I had never seen "Tumbleweed" do to its lack of availability until now. This movie is so good that it has become my favorite Audie Murphy western. Kudos to the company, Hollywood Scrap Heap, for issuing such gems that are being neglected by other companies who don't see a large enough profit margin to bother. It's almost criminal that the Hollywood establishment has not preserved its own history and reissued its own works of art!
In Tumbleweed, Audie Murphy portrays a familiar western character -- a good man who is wrongly accused of a crime, and misunderstood by all but a few honest people who take the trouble to look deeper for the truth. The title "Tumbleweed" is taken from the name of an unusual white horse that a rancher gives to Audie to help him in his mission to exonerate himself. This horse, on the surface, appears to be a pathetic, scrawny excuse for a riding horse, but it turns out to be somewhat of an idiot savant who saves Audie from dying of thirst on the desert, and eventually enables Audie to save himself from the hangman's noose.
This movie has all the elements of a great Western: a fascinating story, conflict, romance, stunning western cinematography, and solid western supporting actors such as Chill Wills, Lee Van Cleef, Russell Johnson and Roy Roberts. Chill Wills gives his usual solid performance as the town sheriff. Gorgeous Laurie Nelson provides the beauty and romantic interest.
The DVD quality is excellent, thanks to the tender loving care invested in its restoration. The sound is clear and natural, and the technicolor is beautiful.
