Sony - S2 Sports Walkman Digital Armband Radio SRF-M85W
    Jan 01, 2016
Sony SRF-M85W Walkman - works great; so far, it's all good
I just received this, so my comments are based on setting it up and checking it out. Everything about this unit is as advertised. Small, lightweight, uses just one AAA battery (rechargable or alkaline/lithium), gets really good reception, the headphones that come with it are Sony good (sounds like rich stereo to me). It curves so that whether using the armband or belt clip, it fits on you better. I bought this mainly to listen to radio while running outside. The armband seems to work great. However, because I'll have it on my arm and running, I won't be using the stopwatch feature (I have a watch for that), or looking at the display or changing stations much. I'll just set it, put it on my arm and go. If you're using the beltclip or holding the unit while working out, changing stations, using the stopwatch, etc will be easy to do. It is advertised as water resistant, so you don't want to dunk it in water, I'll see how it resists rain or heavy sweating. Another feature is a countdown timer that operates the radio for a time you set and then cuts it off like a sleep timer. It also has a pitch timer, which I won't be using. I had this feature on an old running watch and only used it once because I found it more annoying than useful. Setup and use is fairly easy and straight forward because the instructions are accurate and written in plain English. I don't know how long the battery will last with my usage, but I use rechargables, so I don't really care. There is a battery indicator that displays when the radio is on, but I don't know how accurate it is (because it's a Sony, I'll bet it actually works).
August DTA207 Digital Extendable TV Antenna - Portable Indoor/Outdoor Aerial
    Feb 27, 2016
The August DTA207 Digital antenna works
I got three DTA207 antennas for the price of one RCA1052 flat angel wing antenna. The DTA207 works better, especially when you attach the magnetic base to a metal strip (I used a piece of sheet metal 3" x 12"). The metal strip seems to enhance the antenna's ability to pull in a signal and stabilizes the base when tilting the antenna. Cable is changing to all digital, which means (for Cox Cable) you need to rent a mini-box to get the channels for extra cost. This change is being required by our federal government with a deadline, I believe, by 2020. This also means you can't record any channels from the mini-box (or what ever your cable company calls the device) unless you rent (for even more money per month) the cable company's dvr recorder. So, now we only get cable on two TV's, and the others get over-the-air local channels and sub-channels with the antennas. We can also record those aired channels with the recorders we already have. I live in Kenner, LA which is West of New Orleans, which has 11 TV stations with a total of 32 channels. The transmitters are all located East and Southeast of downtown New Orleans which means they are 15 to about 25 miles away (maybe more). I'm able to pick up 29 channels. WYES is the only station I can't pick up (broadcasts 3 channels) which has a relatively weak signal and transmits from way out in New Orleans East. The signal can be picked up a few miles closer in Metairie, which is just east of Kenner. If it wasn't for my wife and kids that "need" a few of the cable only channels, I'd probably dump cable. I can live without ESPN, and a couple of the other shows on A&E, and History can be viewed online. It could be that continuing government regulations may kill cable television as it exists today. Hope this review helps.
