Rare album, pretty expensive, but worth it!
The great thing about Robert Quine and Fred Maher's album, Basic, is that creates a mood. None of the pieces have a particular melody per se, but there's an undisputed energy that was created by these two guys. Quine's guitar licks and sounds are very unique, and Maher's programming is well done, although I kind of wish that he provided some additional acoustic drums. All in all, it's a gem of an album that I'm proud to own in physical form.

Very good album!
There are some very strong moments on this album. The 2 Prince penned tracks and the Narada Michael Walden track 'Still in Love' are the best moments! Then of course you can never listen to 'If I Asked You To' without thinking of OO7.

To Me, It's Easily One of His Essentials
I'm just going to say that this album is a must. I was absolutely blown away upon hearing it for the first time! There are so many interesting progressions and ideas that it really shows how far Prince will go to stay adventurous. There are even times when you feel like you're on a mission with OO7; roaring guitars, oriental sounds, intricate drums, pounding basses, keys galore! It's truly fantastic. It's actually a pity that this album is so rare to procure. Fans of Prince and music in general owe it to themselves to have this gem, but as mentioned, it's sad that they have to pay such a high price. I luckily have the album and will NEVER, EVER part with it. The packaging is even cool! If you've delved into Madhouse and enjoyed it, you'll enjoy this, but...this is more complex! The personnel work so great together, that you aren't the least bit surprised that PRN chose these people to be his backing band. Just get this album!
