All Around Great
Much cheaper than others. Looks and works like new.

Not the best all-in-one lens
1 of 1 found this helpful I got this lens to be my "everything" lens on my new Canon 40D.
Once I got it, although the USM was amazing, I really felt the lack of that 80-200mm range. I found a barely used 18-200mm IS Canon lens and the comparison takes this lens out of consideration. If you can afford it (about $150 more used) then get the 18-200. The lack of USM isn't that big of a deal, the IS is 3 years newer in design and it shows. The clarity is better and barrel distortion better than this lens. Sure, it's heavier (so, maybe not as good a vacation lens) but I'm putting it on the 40D - a heavy camera. Remember that this is a 2003 vintage lens, and for things like IS and clarity, it matters.
