About
I live in the western North Carolina mountains. Since 1998 I've been professionally resurrecting and rebuilding large professional grade Husky and Stihl chainsaws. my primary target sales are loggers, firefighters, foresters and arborists. I build for long term reliability and power with no complicated tuning required. I do not build race saws or one trick ponies. I build for simple maintenance in the field and generally avoid computer controlled saws. I have sold refurbished and custom saws from Mexico to Alaska, Australia and all over the US. My profile picture is a Husky 395xp with a single port, free flow muffler mated to a Hyway overbore cylinder kit with a raised top piston, about 100cc and serious power without the weight of a 3120 or 088.

200t AM Oiler Covers
Inexpensive. Good fit and finish. Edges are flush. Good piece of aftermarket plastic.

Big Saws Like Tillotson OEM
The OEM Tillotson carbs work better and longer and rebuild more consistently than aftermarket carbs. This has become evident on Husky saws from 262 and larger. This is particularly true with modified mufflers requiring a more finely tuned carbs. Twice recently I replaced brand new AM carbs with NOSvor used Tillotson s and with good initial adjustments started quickly and we're easily tuned for break in and wear in then, later, for full power. Fine adjustments were easy where AM carbs showed only gross adjustments. I save time and bite the bullet immediately now. My time is worth more than a cheap AM carb install, AM carb failure then the removal and search, purchase and install of the. Tillotson. Not so critical in small saws but above 60CCs, it is critical.

Carb won't hold high speed adjustment
First, the adjustment screws are the EPA splines. Easy enough to find but nonetheless, a PIA. Makes me think of all cheap things Chinese. Idle is OK but cannot keep the high speed mixture adjustment set even with loctite so it will rev up long enough to seduce you to work but just like a prom queen, one kiss is all it's good for ... it dies completely. Fresh, 92 octane, ethanol free 50:1 fuel. Blew the carb out with carb cleaner thinking there may be some crud in the high speed jet but same symptoms return. Internet is not helpful on this so unless I can figure something out, back it goes. Just goes to show, never buy entry level stuff. Shudda stuck with Stihl.
