Uses Less Solution
This style uses much less soaking solution than the screw on style. The cup design allows a mere 4 drops to cover the bottom of the cup. A hard lens can then be covered with only two more drops. Larger, flatter cups require twice as much solution. Why would I want to waste resources?

Works Like New
This is exactly what I needed. The old one would not hold the stand up properly anymore. It was finally relegated to the corner unused. With the replacement parts, it works like new. A little more than I would like to pay, but still much cheaper then a new stand.
