nice and clean shellac

Flakes dissolved well in denatured alcohol. Brushed on. Looks shiny after five or six coats and gentle fine sanding in between.

Seems like brown rubber, not leather

The hardware is nice enough, but the handle doesn't seem to be leather. Rather, it's some kind of brown synthetic rubber.
