End of an early WW II Luftwaffe ace.
Very nice model, made with great accuracy and attention to detail.
The pilot, Major Helmuth Wick, commander of the elite JG 2 Richthofen
was one of the earlier Luftwaffe aces along with Galland and Molders.
On 28 November 1940, the first summer of the war, after having scored
56 victories, he was shot down south of the Isle of Wight and, though
he parachuted into safely into the Channel, his body was never found.
On the yellow cowling of his Bf 109 was a blue pennant with the word
Horrido down the fly and a Swedish cross in yellow reminding him of
his Scandinavian ancestry.
