Not Half Bad, This
The packaging was rather ugly--you know, the cheap, waxy, yellow cardboard from China?--but yet it arrived safely. The product itself is rather sweet, tho', mates. It looks good with the light on or off; it's nicely detailed. It's a good size,too: large enough to get noticed without being ruddy obnoxious. Overall, I'm really happy with it. Maybe I'll put a nice Godzilla next to it or something! I'd like to get the Eiffel Tower one, but then I'd have to separate the two with some sort of body of water so they don't start a war. You know the Frenchies and the Brits! Ta, mates!

Naturally Compelling
The dichotomy in this young man's character and personality traits is vividly portrayed here, yet without passing judgment. He was unquestionably awed by the majesty of nature, but somehow didn't respect it enough. He reminds me of a person who is enthralled with weaponry but neglects to approach it with proper training and caution. His treatment of people, too, is incongruous. He was deliberately cruel to his parents and sister, withholding correspondence from them, yet to those who were little more than acquaintances, he apparently gave love and respect. This film is simultaneously gritty and cruel, beautiful and touching. But it never goes too far in either direction. This kind of balance is difficult to achieve, and makes for a different but fulfilling viewing experience. Make sure to get the widescreen version of this sad but compelling journey.

Inescapable Terror
A non-fiction horror story from the pen of the man who experienced it. It will take you from the bright and happy days of camaraderie and the youthful bluster of training camp to the most horrific and unpredictable terrors a man can experience. A never-ceasing dread and state of constant shock and appalling fright befalls him, and it is entirely impossible for his story not to drag you along with him. This is truly a one-of-a-kind work, as many autobiographies were written by officers who saw little action or by soldiers farther from the front lines. This was a common soldier starved, frozen, and subjected to unimaginable and inescapable sights and emotions. This book is out-of-print, and copies elsewhere are selling for ridiculous prices. I urge everyone who might have an interest in this kind of work to snatch up a copy while you still can. But be prepared. It isn't pretty.
