Hypersound Clear 500P Directed Audio Speaker Review
4 of 4 found this helpful I purchased this system as an experiment, hoping it would provide good quality sound that I could use to listen to music without bothering others. It works as described, sending the audio signal mostly forward with much less audibility off axis. Unfortunately there is a lot of noisiness to the system, crackles, static, and pops that seem to emanate from around the room. There is very little dynamic contrast capacity, anything above a moderately strong signal will distort badly. It won't play very loud and produces no bass. If you add a subwoofer, the subwoofer sound can not be contained, so others will hear that. Overall the sound is fatiguing and certainly not something you'd want to listen to music through. It's advertised as a hearing aid device, and perhaps it has some usefulness in that regard. If your hearing is good and you are wanting to enjoy music, don't bother with this. For podcasts or watching the news or a sitcom it can be fine. For $149 I consider it a good value if purchased with the right expectations.
As for build quality, appearance, user controls, packaging, and instructions, everything is very good for this price range.
