Totally unsuited for concert classical guitar
Was interested in these as they are marketed as a flat wound string for classical guitars and as usual in the depth of winter having a horrendous calloused index on my fret hand and having to make some recordings thought these would potentially do a good job of reducing fretting noise and so forth.
Couple of points to note first off - I am still unsure whether these are 'flatwound' or 'polished' or if there is any significant difference in what these terms mean. The tension is listed and so is the gauge. The scale isn't on the packaging and to be honest I found them a little short, but not a major problem.
Out of the packaging the strings themselves have cotton braid both ends which is unusual for classical strings as you'd expect them on the tuner end but wouldn't want any on the bridge end. The bridge end also has a funny loop which maybe is for the non-classical nylon guitars you get like Martin N series. Really not sure but not something I wanted.
As for the string itself - like stroking a tree trunk, with a similar sound. As to be expected they were dull but this seemed a new level. Like a string coated in dust for 20 years. Also the intonation is abysmal. Tried these out on two concert guitars for several days and they could not be tuned up. Not an issue with one 'rogue' handmade string either just very poor quality.
A shame as I've used Thomastiks in other situations like electric bass and they stand up well, but hark my words: avoid these like the plague as they are complete waste of time and money.
