Best machine I’ve ever used
Bought this machine as my old singer finally gave up. I need a heavy duty machine as much of what I sew is repairing horse rugs and leather goods.
The janome sw2018e is superb at this task. It’s smooth and powerful and has a range of stitches that make heavy duty repairs a piece of cake. At the price I paid it’s a steal.

Lift the sound stage.
I have an Isuzu D-Max truck which came with a good quality pioneer head unit so I decided to build upon this by upgrading the standard speakers. After fitting good quality two way and three way speakers in the front and rear doors and a 135 watt sub woofer in the rear bulkhead I was pleased with the sound quality but felt that it still lacked definition. After much further research I bought these tweeters hoping to raise the sound stage and boy did it work. The effect when driving is now akin to wearing a set of high end head phones and I am sure that by readjusting the time phasing of each channel that it can be improved still further. If you are thinking of installing a set of tweeters I can't recommend theses highly enough, they allow the highs to cut through the mix without being harsh or shrill.
As a bonus they come with a comprehensive fitting kit which allows for a wide variety of installations and a pair of passive cross over filters which were easy to fit in parallel with the front door speakers. My one reservation would be that I'm running the my system from the head unit at 50 watts per channel, plus the sub at 135 watts. I'm not sure if these tweeters would have the ability to handle the power if used with a power amp.
Other than that reservation they are brilliant, buy them.

Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera
I wanted to buy a DSRL camera as a present for my 13yr old daughter. I spent a great deal of time spent researching on the Internet. After reading Ken Rockwell's excellent advice and review pages I decided to buy a Nikon D40 as it appeared to represent the best quality camera in terms of features and performance in the price band I was looking at.
Right out of the box I was very impressed with the image quality from the D40, colours were reproduced well, as long as the white balance was set correctly. Flash shots and indoor shots with lots of light from windows turned out well, but some shots under different types of lighting took on a colour cast that did require setting a custom white balance. Images had nice detail and good dynamic range. The 6.2 mega-pixel sensor produces images of sufficient quality to print out on A4 paper without any noticeable deterioration in the quality of the print, this does depend on the quality of your printer, and who but pro-photographers ever really print bigger than A4?
The combination of good price, high quality and ease of use is certain to lead to SLR addiction. With the D40, Nikon wants to make sure that you're not intimidated by the controls or size of an SLR and I think that they've done a good job, everything is pretty much intuitive. Also, by including plenty of "help" features into the camera, it becomes very easy to work out which setting does what.
Besides all of the features that make this a novice-friendly camera, the D40 takes great pictures. It provides all of the flexibility and creative options that a novice SLR user will need. The camera performs quickly and takes great shots. Certainly there are things about this camera that you could nit-pick, but I think that a package like this, with the quality and value that it provides, will be responsible for getting more people into using a digital SLR than any previous digital SLR.
I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for their first Digital SLR. When you first get the camera, you can leave it in auto mode and enjoy the quick operation and excellent image quality that you get from an SLR. When you're ready, you can start using the manual exposure modes and start getting creative from there.
