old-fashioned energy intensive
2 of 2 found this helpful this is one of those old-fashioned, solenoid doorbells. I didn't realise that was what I was buying until it was too late. they eat the batteries.
If you're after an old-fashioned doorbell that reminds you of your childhood, perhaps this is for you after all

Be careful of old stock
A number of these were withdrawn in 2011 and have made their way back onto the market. Although the packaging may say a 10 year life, most of them will expire in 2022. Fire Brigade and housing associations stop using this model because of reported fire problems (search the Internet for more information).

Fairly well-made item. For purpose. Less expensive than some of the other ones I’ve seen.
