Digitrax DZ126T 1 Amp Tiny Series 6 decoder for Z, N & HO Still in package.

Quite the punch in a Tiny package

I love these decoders! SOOO much easier to install in my N scale locos. Keeps milling the frames down to a minimum. I even used them to retrofit 2 non-dcc ready GP-30s. I plan on buying more!

Great handling locos.

This is my 3rd Kato Gevo. These are great locos. Solid and steady at slow speeds, pulls 20 cars up a 2 1/2 incline easy, and the decoders are relatively easy to drop in. So far, the only "complaints " I might have are 1) It gets a lot more challenging to install a sound decoder with a speaker and capacitor, very little space, so some milling is required, but I mostly chalk that up to just N scale, and 2) there's not many, if any, Gevo sound packages, let alone ones that sound good. I use a digitrax decoder but use SD40-2 sound package. I still highly recommend them. They handle too well not to. As for shipping, it arrived in a timely manner and it was carefully packaged. That goes a long way with me.

Pick something else...

I'm not sure about this decoder. I installed it in a Walthers GP38-2. It is extremely slow and underpowered. I then installed a 2nd one in another Walthers Gp38-2. Same thing. But I'm still unsure if it's the Loco or the decoder. On a 3rd one, I installed a Digitrax DZ126T. It helped. It does run faster, so I chalk that up to the decoder. Still underpowered. But I think that is due to the Walthers. 3 stars because it technically works.
