It's a battery!
1 of 1 found this helpful The battery went into my 160 GB classic. I didn't use the tools, I used a blade and a screwdriver, which messed up the housing a bit. I got one side pried up and then pulled it away from the other side noting that it is kept in with little tabs. The cable did not go in well until I went over the video again to see that there is a clamp that must be lifted up to allow the cable in and then pushed down to clamp it. The battery took a charge and all would've been well except that now it appears that the hard drive needs to be replaced due to damage when it was dropped on the cement floor. The ribbon cable to the earphone jack also had broken, either from the fall or when I took it apart. Don't drop your iPod.

An excellent book
Hard to believe this book has been around for so long and not more well known. It covers so much with simplicity but with enough depth to make it very instructive.
