The Lexus ES300 has two different steering shaft designs
The Lexus ES300 has two different steering shaft designs. One such as this that connects the steering column to the rack and pinion and comes with the steering column shaft seal (common to Toyota Camrys). The second design is a steering shaft that comes without the steering column shaft seal. This design connects the rack and pinion to the universal steering joint (essentially a rubber shock absorber) which in turn connects to the steering column, i.e., the steering wheel.
The knuckles of this 425-454 Steering Shaft appeared to be of high quality, soft but solid and highly flexible. Paint did not cover the apparently new bearing seals, which indicates to me that the part was not refurbished.
Take note that if your Lexus has a universal steering joint, this specific product is not for you.
