Led is dim.
I installed this compass in my vehicle, purchased parts to wire the led to the vehicle and after a few hours of removing the dashboard of my truck and assembling the parts. I come to find out the led within the compass is VERY dim green. Hardly visible on the highway at night. I wasnt pleased with the brightness so I disassembled the compass and replaced the led with a much brighter one. All good now.

Ideal utility light
Perfect light for just about anything. Main reflector led is bright enough to identify objects roughly 50 yards away. Auxiliary beam mounted on the side throws usable light 10ft and is wide enough to fill entire field of view. Unique battery arrangement, difficult to explain but once you see it you can understand why it's "intrinsically safe". Buy one and you're done. Buy two, it's done twice as well.

Voltage cutoff too soon.
The protection circuitry cuts the voltage off at 3.4v far too soon in my opinion. I used these in a flashlight, and regretted my purchase when I was deep in a dark attic when my light terminated after no more than 15 min. I set up a circuit to measure the cut-off voltage of these cells. 3.4v!
