Great crash
I own 4 16” crashes. Two are A custom, one is an A custom fast and the other is an A, fast crash. It’s a great size flor my needs. I would recommend the 15, 17, 18. The fast are thinner, can sound really sweet but the regular a custom crash, hit just right, and sound great . I don’t have experience with the rides but they are priced the same as A’s new, I like the brilliant finish and sound. There main nemesis is fingerprints. The projection crashes were discontinued, and judging by one I own , for good reason. Stick with the A custom 16” crash.

Great Stix
I tried the black dipped, shorter, I believe hickory 7a from Zildjian and it was my 1st pair with ball tips. I have been experimenting with different sticks, mostly 7a, and really dug the ball wood tips. Lo and behold , I stumbled upon the Maple green dip Zildjian long 7a’s with wood ball tips. I’ve been switching between the heavier , shorter black dip, and these long , lighter green dips. Love em both. The ball tip is great for playing top of hats and ride, as well as snare and Tom’s. If you play 5 a or b, you need to play some 7a’s. Perfect for jazzier playing . Zildjian is making great sticks right now and all drummers owe it to themselves to try them. A+++!

A solid , no frills, dependable pedal
I bought this pedal for 2 reasons. I have been using a direct drive pedal but kept going back to a single chain Gibraltar I’ve had for 20 years. I needed an upgrade and based on the price, the simplicity and the lack of heal ( I play exclusively heal up, made this Mapex 490 a good choice. It didn’t disappoint. It’s solid, simple , smooth, I did swap out a nice beater, and now I use it alternately with my Gibraltar direct drive. Nothing beats a smooth chain driven pedal built to get the job done with minimal adjusting and tinkering.
