Not the one for me, too painful
2 of 3 found this helpful Let me preface my review by reminding that, as always, ymmv. I was so excited to find this portable shiatsu massager that perhaps my expectations were too high. I carry my stress in my neck and shoulders, so I’ve been looking for a good home massager for a while now. The first thing I noticed about this product was the smell. It has a very strong, industrial, plastic smell. I had to let it air out for a week before I could even take it for a spin. While I enjoy the pressure and shiatsu movement, I find very little benefit to the meager heat that this puts off. I do like that the direction is reversible, but I wanted a little more heat than this puts out. When I turned the unit on to take photos for this review, one of the sides did not light up to indicate the heat was active. I tried turning it off and on, but eventually I had to unplug it before it would light up again. Perhaps my biggest problem is with the double layer of mesh fabric that covers the rotating heads – it is *very* rough. Using this product on bare skin gave me what can only be described as minor friction burns on my shoulders, but using it through clothing is weird feeling. Not very relaxing, unless you are looking for a heavy duty exfoliating machine. I know there is a softer version of this mesh available, as I have a heavy-duty shopping bag made from it. I also found that the placement of the massagers is not ideal for me. It is very difficult for me to find a way to use this machine that is comfortable, and I really wish there was even the slightest ability to adjust the head placement. Overall, this is not the massager I have been hoping to find, so my quest will continue.

Dipped in The Bog of Eternal Stench
1 of 1 found this helpful Okay, the price point on these is fabulous, but you really get what you pay for here. I couldn't even bring the package in my house, it reeked of rubbery chemicals so badly! I left these things outside on my porch for over two weeks hoping the smell would dissipate and I could use them in my new-to-me used car. The result? A big ball of NOPE! During that time frame it rained, it was sunny, it drizzled, it was sunny again. One of the smaller mats got kicked at some point and ended up overlapping a larger. The bigger mat now sports a feisty tan line. But the sad thing is that I brought them in the house a few nights ago thinking, "Surely they must be fine now." NOPE! They had to go right back outside because one again the stink permeated through my house and threatened to cause a raging migraine. I swear these have been dipped in The Bog of Eternal Stench!! As I cannot imagine trying to drive with these odoriferous beasts in my car, they are set to be resold to the next victim at an upcoming yard sale. Caveat emptor, folks. Caveat freaking emptor.
