Umbra wobble threads a very fine needle.
Most chess sets fall into a spectrum from the boring to the baroque. I have been searching for a long time for a high quality wooden set that matches the aesthetic of my eclectic modern home. The Umbra wobble was a great find for me. The board is well finished with no mismatched edges or rough seams. The pieces are well-weighted, simple without being austere, and easy to distinguish (some modern sets fail on this, with pieces that are too similar making them pretty to look at but a pain to play). It is a great addition to my game room and I can picture it ageing gracefully over the next decades. I'm veyr happy with this purchase.
