The book is divided into four sections: The Basics, Materials, Preparing for Hot Stone Massage and Hot Stone and Gem Massage. "The Basics" begins with a history of massage as used throughout the ages. Notable people and places throughout history are explained in easy, clear, concise text. The LaStone and meridian systems of Hot Stone Massage are reviewed and discussed. Using particular gemstones for Chakra Massage is also explained. The authors manage to convey all this information without becoming overly technical or academic. I found the text to be very accessible and easy to read. The section on "Materials" explains what makes basalt stones particularly suited to hot stone massage. Also covered are the types of oils to use and the qualities different oils possess in the use of massage.
Section three, entitled "Preparing for Hot Stone Massage," covers preparing the space for the massage, interacting with the client, what to do when the massage is completed and how to care for the stones. The fourth section gets into the specific techniques of massage with the client laying on their back or stomach. The strokes are photographed and illustrated. These photos helped me immensely in understanding exactly how to use the hot stones during massage.
Simple, clear and easy to read this book is a great beginning reference to get anyone started using Hot Stone Massage for clients and loved ones.

Impressive Package for Anyone
7 of 8 found this helpful I was really impressed by the quality of this massage table. The table arrived with a nice kit of accessories; which included a half round bolster, a round bolster, a massage table sheet face cradle cover sheet and a nylon holder which hangs on the side of the massage table to hold your oils and lotions.
The foam is thick, but firm with a cut out with a removable cushion in case you want to perform massages without using the neck cradle. I have found this feature to be useful with my juvenile clients. The covering is a man-made type of leather that is nicely textured and easy to clean. The half bolster and full-round bolster are covered with the same type of material, these covers have a zipper so that they can be removed if needed, a nice touch.
The legs are constructed of hardwoods that are light and feel quite strong. The knobs to adjust the legs up and down to change the height of your table are made of high quality plastic and feel good in the hand. It is a snap to set up and take down. In tight places it is a bit difficult because you must be able to lay the table on its' side so that the legs and supporting structures can "pop" out.
Elastic straps on the underneath side of the tables' surface hold the neck cradle, neck cradle cushion, arm rest and side arm bolsters inside the table as it is folded up for transport. Lastly, the hardware is of quality stainless or chrome plated steel. I would recommend tightening them with a screwdriver before the first use, being careful not to strip out any of the Phillips Head screws, just to make sure everything is really secure.
Whether you are a professional masseuse or casual home user you will find this table to be an inexpensive high quality product for many years of use.

Lightweight with great features

It takes the following memory cards; Micro SD, MMC micro, Mini SD, SD, XD picture card, MMC mobile, MMC plus, M2 and MS Duo. The card reader comes with a USB A 2.0 to Mini USB connecting cord. I plugged it into my computer and it was ready to go. There is an "access" light in the upper right corner that glows red to let you know that it is connected. Data transfer was fast and accurate, completing most file transfers in milliseconds. The slots for the cards and the connecting cord are tight, once you put the card in, it stays put while you do your work.
