Good entertainment system subwoofer
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this subwoofer to complete an entertainment system in my living room which is 12' x 24'. I paired it with a Yamaha RX-V 467 receiver and a Polk Audio Surround Bar 50. It's purpose is predominantly for movie watching and low - mid level music. The sound is excellent and fills my room with little effort. It is stylish, simple and can be conveniently placed on a shelving system along with the other components for a nice clean look (contrary to most subwoofer placement redcomendations). Unless you are blowing the roof off your house, it does quite well there, no shortage of "rumble". It comes with 2 cables with single RCA style jacks. One cable is referred to as a "system control cable" and the other is a regular "subwoofer cable". If your receiver is equipped with a "system control jack" (which most Yamaha Digital Sound Projectors have) the benefit of this cable is that the subwoofer will power off when you power off your receiver. If not equipped, you must use the regular subwoofer cable and are left to power both components off separately. I found it odd that the Yamaha RX receiver did not have a system control jack. I would also prefer speaker wire terminals as opposed to a cable in order to connect the subwoofer to the front left and right channels on the receiver for optimum sound quality. Outside of that, this subwoofer offers great Yamaha sound out of a unique looking, component style cabinet at a reasonable price. Works and looks great!

Good Deal
Good value, factory look, fit and finish. Easy to install although the rubber trim seal installation is somewhat aggravating.
