Dead battery, and didn't work with my Stanley Opener

The Skylink Universal Keychain Garage Door Remote - Model 68N I purchased came with a dead battery. When the battery was replaced with a new one, and the unit was configured to work with my Stanley garage door opener, it still didn't work. Too much trouble to return.
