Works but has some reliability issues.
My ice maker is approximately 4 years old and this unit has now failed three times. The pump/motor has failed once and the pressure switch that controls the motor has failed twice. The pump when new works as advertised but the pump motor is a bit noisy by design. It is fastened to the bottom of the unit with no vibration dampening so it can be clearly heard when it turns on. There is nothing in the ice maker to stop the compressor condensation from growing mold and that mold eventually clogged the pump head which is what I believe caused the pump to fail and ultimately caused extra drag on the motor which made the pressure switch fail twice.
The pressure switch that controls the pump motor when new turns the pump on very briefly but over time becomes less sensitive and causes the pump motor to run for longer periods of time. All of the current is directed through a contactor that is built into the pressure switch. I do not believe that contactor is designed to handle the heat related to long term activation, so it eventually burns out. When the switch turns the pump on, it also turns the ice maker off at the same time so when it burns out, it shuts the whole unit down. Again, the unit works correctly when it is new but in 4 years, I have spent around $500 keeping the pump working on top of the cost of the original pump unit. The designers should have built in a circuit breaker into the system to stop it from burning up pump components or installed components with a higher rated duty cycle.
On a side note, I have now added HVAC pan tabs to the drain to control the mold from the compressor that goes into the pump. Hopefully that will keep the new pump from clogging and failing.
