Durable coasters
Already had a set of these but wanted a second for a party we were hosting. Arrived quickly and matched our light oak/ maple furniture nicely.

Spinning the Lion
Before reading this book I had heard reports that it was sort of a "clean up" job on Louis B Mayer. Having read it I would agree. It's well written from the standpoint of Eyman's style, and he has included considerable depth of research, but he is, shall I say, very careful about how he expresses negative aspects of Mayer's behavior and actions. My jaw dropped at a few of the dismissive descriptions of sexual harassment, and was impressed by outright omissions - such as MGM's active role in the cover ups following the suspicious deaths/murders of Paul Bern and Ted Healy. What I hadn't heard, and what I perceived while reading the book, was Eyman's subtle attempts to shift the ugly light over to Thalberg who, even now, continues to enjoy something of a historical glow. Overlooking these significant issues it is often an interesting read, but I'm quite pleased I bought it used and didn't pay full price.

Pretty
It's a short but pretty string of changing LEDs. The hummingbird plastic models can slip off the lights without too much encouragement, so I suspect the first good gust of summer wind we get, I'll have some broken plastic pieces to sweep up. Also, I thought the lights could be programmed to do a few things, but it's just ON and OFF.
