Phone Case
Bought this for my 82 year old mother. Was easy to put on. Case has been in use for 7 months and seems to be good for her. A little flimsy for my taste but for light use, it is OK.

RS-338: Less Costly Alternative to CR-338 Oscillator, but NOT less Quality
4 of 5 found this helpful I did some research on this item before purchase. It appeared to have the same stability as the Icom oscillator, but it maintained accuracy over a wider ambient temperature range. And it did it at a lower cost, so I decided to take the chance and order it. It arrived 2 days earlier than projected. The item looked just as presented in the eBay picture with the "Radio Shack" label. Note this is not associated with the U.S. Radio Shack franchise. Still it carries an RS part number.
Removal of the original crystal was a bit of a chore, but eventually came out. Cleaned out the solder from the holes and the new oscillator went in easily. I did some extensive reading on how to best adjust this oscillator from different sources. The best advise came from the Icom Service manual for the IC-718 in which I was installing it. They recommended centering the fine adjustment C16 and adjusting the course adjustment L4 for the 64.000000MHz frequency at the P1 check point using a frequency counter.
To perform the final adjustment, requires tuning in WWV on the receiver (15 or 10 MHz), setting the dial to exactly 10.000000 or 15.000000MHz, set filter to narrow, set the mode to CW to produce a beat tone, switch between CW and CW(Rev) listening to the pitch of the beat tone. I connected an audio frequency counter to the speaker output for better accuracy. [The narrow filter helps to remove the WWV transmitted tone and voice from the speaker audio.] Adjust C16 until the beat tone is the same (frequency or pitch) in both CW and CW(Rev) modes. I was able to get the receiver to within 0.5Hz accuracy from 160M through 10M.
After using the radio for several days, I knew I had made the right choice. The frequency did not drift beyond the 0.5Hz after about 30-45 second warm-up. Very good investment if you intend to operate high-speed digital modes, especially in field operations or other EMCOMM activities where the ambient temperature can be extreme. I highly recommend this oscillator for the various Icom rigs that it is compatible. W4ZQ

Great Mic for Theater
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased one of these mics to test before buying a bunch. Tested and did a direct comparison with a Shure WL93 lavalier in a "hair-line" installation. The frequency response was almost identical. No problems with overload in this installation. Bought 4 more right away. Compared to an $80 WL93, that comes with the rented wireless systems, these actually perform better at a much lower price. May not be a $160 Countryman B3, but is significantly less expensive. They are cheap enough that we can consider them a "consumable" item and if broken, can be thrown away and replaced. Very good value. Customer service is the best if the need arises. Will be buying more.
