I use it for my dslr camera. Those that use it for video will benefit more from it. They are designed to help video with getting correct exposure, focusing, and sound. It does have waveform. Mine came with two different types of hdmi cables, micro, and mini and I am glad it did. The battery my Sony cameras take NP-FM500H are not compatible with the mounting plate for the type of Sony batteries this will take. Wishful thinking on my part.
