Still an amazingly capable piece of hardware that doesn't bog you down
1 of 1 found this helpful Even in 2012. The PS2 has games that far outweigh the PS3 in terms of playability and fun.
From the amazing: Black (FPS shooter); to the sublime Wipeout series - you'd be hard pressed to find a better console.
With component cables attached to your high definition TV - the quality of the graphics improves a great deal. Although not technically HD - the PS2 does have games that run in high definiton.
This iteration of the PS2 draws very little power and the DVD drive is of excellent quality.
Watching movie DVD's through the PS2 is amazing with component cables. The quality is pretty amazing for a system that is now 10 years old.
The PS2 is the best selling console of all time - so there are literally hundreds of new and original games available on amazon and ebay.
I defy anyone to play wipeout pulse and not be amazed at the stunning graphics and gameplay.
With numerous hardware and firmware glitches the PS3 has not been reliable. The Xbox 360, even worse for notorious red lights of death.
Time to upgrade to the PS2 and no lengthy activation protocols or software upgrades. Just put your game in and play.
The PS2 is still a great console and thoroughly defeats the new generation of consoles. Don't believe me? Play God of war 2 or Black or Ratchet & Clank. Resident evil 4 or Area 51. Stolen or any of your old PS1 games (because the PS2 can play those too!!!).
Just do it !!!
