style over substance
This stand looks the part but, has not been designed for utility. It is made out of cast aluminum instead of iron so, keeping a cookbook of any size upright becomes a balancing act. The decorative knob in the middle is also a hindrance as the spine of the book has to go to one side or the other which, again, leads to instability. The shelf is much too shallow to hold a cookbook properly. If you’re looking for a stand for decorative purposes, this will do the job. If you need a real stand, look elsewhere.
