Excellent phone with a nice OS
The Amazon FirePhone is an excellent alternative for people looking for a smartphone a little out of the mainstream. It is fast and responsive, runs apps well, and has a very slick interface. The OS on this phone seems a little bit more down-to-earth and less goofy and childish as many smartphone OSes are. By default, smaller fonts are used, which seems to come across as more professional, especially when targetting the very literate crowd that purchase Kindle devices in the first place. The battery life isn't bad, but it is much better if you turn of the fancy rotation effects on the lock screen and app icons. All-in-all a very solid, cheap, down-to-earth iPhone alternative.

Really fantastic game.
Unlike other FPS games, the higher intelligence of the ai forces you to think tactically to survive. This was a little difficult at first, as I am used to games like UT3, Halo for PC, and Half-Life 2, where you can usually pick up a weapon and just blast your way through the game. The "super-suit" took a little getting used to as well, but once I had adapted to the different tools and gameplay of this FPS, it was FANTASTIC. The insane graphics are hardware suckers, but even on medium graphical detail, this game is visually stunning. The nano-suit is one of the best "super-suits" I've seen in a video game yet (with the possible exception of the time suit in Time Shift). You can divert you suits power to Maximum Armor (shields), Maximum Speed (super speed), Maximum Strength (pickup heavier objects, throw things farther, jump higher), or a limited time Cloak (active camoflage). Your suit becomes a very powerful tool throughout the game, as do the customizable weapon modifications, like silemcers, scopes, laser sights, end-of-barrel flashlights, etc. This is a wonderful game and I would rate right up there with the legacy of Half-Life 2.
