This is not amplified as slickly intimated
0 of 1 found this helpful Ebay sold this item as amplified, yet it is only an external speaker that has very little max. volume. The filter is very ineffective for it brings the volume even a little lower while only removing a tiny bit of noise with more audio than noise.

A few drawbacks but mostly good points
This product has good points. A few not so good. The sound takes some getting used to in small to medium room INSIDE due to the large horn it is very difficult to bring the mid range frequencies down to a subdued level. This is the main thing I first hated about the sound. I would have much preferred that the EQ design would have included an overall level control of the EQ but it would have to all hinge on PRE-amp BEFORE IT just especially for the EQ.
But since the circuit design DID NOT preamp BEFORE the EQ circuitry it gives the EQ little effect on some sounds and at some gain and or volume (gain) input levels. As a result I MUST keep the mid EQ at the MINIMUM settings regardless of program sources or inputs (which mostly renders the EQ useless for tailoring to specific tastes & preferences as well as deficiencies in the speaker, room acoustics, and source.
Aesthetically, it looks fairly nice inside. The controls are pretty well arranged. They are fairly appropriately sized and positioned. Functionally they work pretty well. (no distortion from dirty or poor potentiometer contacts- like some other QFX models) But then, the price for this model is significantly more. It is worth the price overall comparatively with other brands in and out of it's category such as amplified speakers because the built in amplifier is very effective (a bit TOO in the MID Frequencies) which makes for a harsh and unrealistic sound unless the EQ setting is set all the way to minimum (it should have been designed to at least be that sound AT THE O db (flat) setting not the -12 db setting so that you could have preference.
I don't like the lighted disc effect at all, it messed up the overall elegant look and feel, it should have been left off in my opinion, however the lights can be turned off around the speaker drivers. Of course the sort of unattractive mount for the lights that ugly protrude is unchangeable.
I like that The Bluetooth is not ALWAYS sending the harmful radiation signals anytime the unit is powered. (like some Amplified large PA speakers that are difficult to turn off-the off switch is near the bottom of unit AND IN REAR.
And it's Bluetooth send signal REGARDS if it's in use with a device.) One other low point of this 12200bt unit is the PRI switch - I'm not clear what it is intended to do but I find it useless and simply in the way, it should not have been included also. I suppose it is some sort of override switch or to be used as microphone priority, but functionally it seems to be more trouble that it's worth in my opinion in most applications.
The Amplifier (medium HIGH power) section is of very good and high quality...no hums, buzzes, hiss here even at the highest operating levels, if it weren't for this I would not have even taken time to rate this unit, it's what separates it from many others.
It's WHY I can overlook it's downsides. So overall, yes it's worth the money, a fair value, and better overall than most despite it has a few drawbacks.
