Great plot, memorable characters; don't miss it
The story is an unlikely but irresistible blend of good-bad, dark-light, with well rounded plot, and the characters are vividly drawn. You love and hate them, begin to feel what they feel, and they stay with you after you've finished the book. I hated to see it end and looked for others by Bigelow. So far, have found one other and it was also an excellent, touching book. Man, would I love to see these made into films (as long as the characters are kept just as they are in the books; otherwise, it would ruin the stories). Hey, isn't there a director/producer out there who would do these and prove that films built around a genuinely good story can be free of gratuitous sex and violence (not that there isn't any of these things in it, but this is handled in such a way that you wouldn't mind your preteen reading the book or seeing a true-to-text film).
