Stout, sharp and well made
I bought this saber on an offer that was accepted. Once upon a time, I owned one of these sabers, when Cold Steel first came on the scene in the late 70's/early 80's. I received it and sent it back, which was a shame. I had taken Filipino martial arts and was fairly good with Filipino swords and Japanese swords. I didn't understand the saber, and didn't want to find out at the time. Fast forward to this purchase; very well balanced; much more so than I remember. Its super sharp; its not a toy. Its based on the British pattern saber. I love the curve of the blade; reminiscent of the Indian Talwar, of which I'm sure the British had a lot of experience with. Its beautifully finished, and for me, the steel scabbard is the only way to go. It is also offered with a leather scabbard. They are getting harder to find on eBay, and sometimes not in stock at Cold Steel. Bid/buy carefully; I almost bid on one of these swords that was a factory second. The seller only disclosed this after I asked him directly if it was a factory second. I got mine for less than the ending bid on that particular sword, so there are some good deals out there. To find a historically correct saber, in new condition, that passes the stringent British Proof Test, is a great find for the collector.
