United Kingdom version
I bought this DVD so that I could finally (with my new region-free player) have a non-degrading, digital copy of one of my all-time favorite movies in its original form. The various Region 1 versions that the director has released are re-edits, and (to my mind) extremely amateurishly done, to the point that I'm jarred out of the story each time one of his "improvements" comes along. I'm very happy to have this U.K. version, which is identical to the VHS copy I'd held onto for years, save only for a couple lines of derogatory dialog about the French which I imagine were trimmed as a sort of European Union olive branch...
Great film, and great to see it the way I remember it.
