A Different Kind of Holster
1 of 1 found this helpful This high quality product performs as promised. Concealment is excellent. My job requires "tucked in" shirts and the Urban Carry is a superior product with this dress code. I don't think the flap covering the retention clip is as innocent-looking as claimed, but I've never had anyone question it or even give it a second glance. The only exception is a friend who knew what an Urban Carry holster was, so his interest is not surprising.
Drawing with the Urban Carry G2 takes practice. A stiff gun belt helps. I can definitely draw faster from an "inside the waistband" (IWB) or "outside the waistband" (OWB) holster, but "on the waist" rigs rarely deliver the deep concealment or comfort of an Urban Carry. My draw time with the Urban Carry is similar to drawing from a pocket holster.
The holster is big compared to most other kind of holsters. But since it hides below the waist and is completely covered by your pants, there is no "gun printing." Others can see something is there, but there is no hint of what it might be: phone, wallet, etc. Wearing it takes a little getting used to, but I've sat at my desk and driven in my car for long hours and it's at least as comfortable as any other kind I've tried.
The website offers videos on specific issues related to drawing and are well worth watching. You also need to make SURE you get the right size holster for your gun. I carry a Glock 43 and this type holster seems ideal. I recommend watching every one of the videos on their web site.
I purchased mine in brown, and I've wondered if black might have been a better choice for unobtrusiveness. I wish I could afford to own both colors. The holster is made from quality leather. I used a leather conditioner to help break it in. The finish on the leather is soft, so wear shows on the overhanging flap (or tab). I polish out scratches with the same conditioner.
Ebay is the portal for purchasing holsters that have been returned to the company (which has a generous 30 day money back policy). I saved a little money this way. Mine arrived with absolutely minimal wear and took 4 or 5 days to arrive (as promised).
Overall I am very pleased. It offers unparalleled concealment and for me is more comfortable than an IWB.
