Worth the investment at the right price.
You can't emulate what this machine does. There was a time when memory and storage were extremely expensive, especially for an independent musician. This was one of the first "affordable" samplers that gave keyboardists and music producers a nearly unending sound palette.
There isn't much sample time (up to one minute at 7kHz/12-bit. If you're looking for realism then the S900 isn't for you. The constraints make you create differently than the unlimited perfection you get with modern sample technology.
If you grew up writing and recording music in the 80s, this will bring you back to when tech hurdles were an ignition to creativity with plenty of buttons, menus, and knobs. If you didn't exist in the 80s, this is your chance to submerse yourself in the old way of getting things done: slow and thoughtful.
An Akai S900 at the right price is worth the investment.

Hey! It's wood!
Hey! It's wood! And they fit! Vermona charges way too much, but I'm too lazy to make a set myself, so.... I guess I'll pay the lazy-man tax on this one.

For Yashica Electro 35 G
This battery fits a camera that previously was intended to use a mercury battery, which obviously isn't available these days. It's a good value in that I didn't have to "rig" a solution as suggested on some classic camera websites. This works just fine.
